Description

In early-1970s Las Vegas, low-level mobster Sam 'Ace' Rothstein (Robert De Niro) gets tapped by his bosses to head the Tangiers Casino. At first, he's a great success in the job, but problems with his loose-cannon enforcer Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci), his ex-hustler wife Ginger (Sharon Stone), and her con-artist ex Lester Diamond (James Woods) put Sam in ever-increasing danger.

Please add AD audio description and English subtitles so that I can buy this digital version of the film and write a review and add more stars. Films should be for everyone, not just those with perfect eyesight and hearing.

Trumpeted as it’s return to digital after all these years, and why is it “all these years” I do wonder, and if it’s because the rights are with whoever put this release out, well shame on them. The wait definitely wasn’t worth it. A bare bones, half hearted treatment of a classic of cinema which is available on disk in 4k with HDR in this country, and is stunning btw, here reduced to a laughable 1080p encode with no subtitles. It’s almost as though they downloaded a rip from Pirate Bay and passed it as their own. This right here is why Pirate Bay existed, because film companies cannot be bothered with preservation. Save your money folks, don’t buy and encourage this type of effort.
  • If you want 4k you’ll need a U.S Account

Glad to see this masterpiece released digitally in the uk. Looking at all the other movies released by Vertigo releasing limited on iTunes, all this will be is a barebones HD release with no subtitles. Such a missed opportunity with no 4K and iTunes Extras.

Why is this not a 4k movie it’s been out for years on 4k disc yet looking 7.99 I can guarantee it’s 4k on American iTunes why do we in the uk keep getting shafted with these 4k movies and no upgrades and we seem to get 4k movies downgraded every week. If this keep up I will have to reconsider buying movies going forward.

What an amazing film that I’ve longed for many years to be made available on the iTunes Store. I am however very disappointed that the film has been presented in HD and not 4K Dolby Vision or Arnos as it should be, surely this is a mistake and these features will be added very soon??!!
  • Seriously, no 4K?

Once again, Universal withholds the 4K copy from UK customers, and with no extras either. Along with E.T. and Gladiator, this looks like another one I won’t be migrating to iTunes just yet…

Like many others, I have waited years for this to be available on iTunes. One of my favourite Martin Scorsese movies along with Goodfellas and The Wolf Of Wall Street. If you have not seen this movie yet, do not waste anymore time and watch it now! You can thank me later. Would obviously prefer 4K, but the picture quality is still good for HD. Just keeping my fingers crossed for the addition of CC and iTunes Extras soon.

Is it me, or is it cut? I’m sure you saw a second more on the head in the vice scene, and Nicky’s death. The soundtrack seems to be a split second out as well. Still, a great film.
