Description

Margot and Tyler (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult), a young couple, travel to an elite, remote, coastal island in order to dine at an exclusive restaurant where a mysterious chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish, expensive menu. But it soon becomes clear that the pretentious, pampered dinner guests are about to be served some shocking surprises. Consumerism takes on a hilariously scary meaning in this dark comedy that features Hong Chau, Janet McTeer, Judith Light and John Leguizamo in an all-star ensemble cast. The Menu is directed by Mark Mylod, with a screenplay by Seth Reiss & Will Tracy.

    Left me at a loss by the end. Huge downer and one of those ‘guilty by association plots’. For me the character development didn’t leave you understanding why their fate was so severe. I expected to dislike them to feel their fate was warranted.

    A nice concept, simple plot, polished and well acted. It’s no Shining or masterpiece, but enjoyable and the metaphor is, its a cheese burger of a movie, hyped up to be something else , like its servings.

    Loved this, something a bit different, the acting from the leads made it really shine but the whole cast were magnificent, good script and I loved all the food references, really enjoyed every minute.

    Had high hopes for this movie- but it was too weird to enjoy even a little! The star of the show was the cheeseburger!

  • Poor script and a mash up of different ideas

    This movie is really bad and the plot has not been fleshed out at all. There are a lot of ideas that don’t really land. They don’t develop the characters or really explain why you should care what happens to any of them. They have random things happen without like explanation why it’s happening or how it connects to the wider story. Don’t waste your time or money.
