Description

Oscar®-winning filmmaker Jordan Peele reimagines the summer movie with Nope, an expansive pop epic of uncanny science fiction. Following their father’s shocking death, Hollywood animal wrangler OJ (Daniel Kaluuya) and his sister Emerald (Keke Palmer) begin observing unexplained phenomena on their vast Southern California ranch that leads them down an obsessive rabbit hole as they plot attempts to capture the mystery on camera. Along with a former child star turned family theme park ringmaster (Steven Yeun) who neighbors the siblings, the pair’s efforts to chase the spectacle soon bring terrifying consequences and unimaginable horror. The result is a complex social thriller that unpacks the seeds of violence, risk and opportunism that are inseparable from the romanticized history of the American West … and from show business itself.

Watched this because it was Jordan Peele and I liked his other movies This sadly is boring long winded and makes you just wish it that you had gone for a proper horror rather than this dull Sci Fi rubbish

Liked it, a lot. Didn’t expect to it I’m honest, but thought I’d have a go since it was Jordan Peele. And yes, it was great fun with some great acting, a brilliant buildup, and some cool monster design. Different to his other stuff but would recommend if you fancy a fun diversion for a few hours..

I was glued to the screen. Ignore the nay-sayers. Well directed, and really well performed by all.

easily the best monster-horror movie to come out of the 21stC, and has what might be the most imaginative creature design i’ve ever seen on screen. im a seasoned horror fan and don’t scare easily, but this movie had me on the edge of my seat all the way through! Jordan Peele’s delicious attention to detail, parallels, and foreshadowing are back in full force, and Keke Palmer and Daniel Kaluuya are absolutely delightful as the two leads. the soundtrack is also brilliantly nerve-wracking as always, some incredible scares. don’t listen to reviews saying it’s confusing or slow, the movie is very clear-cut in its themes. the plot is tight and self-contained while still leaving you with questions in the best way. the movie literally says at the beginning in big bold writing that it’s about SPECTACLE. (spoilers below!) if you can’t see how the subplot about an ANIMAL BEING EXPLOITED that LASHES OUT AND KILLS PEOPLE ties into the GIANT ANIMAL IN THE SKY being EXPLOITED that LASHES OUT AND EATS PEOPLE i’ve lost all hope for you.

I was really looking forward to this film. I thought Get Out was great but fancy Jordon Peele just thinks he can get away with anything now because of its success. Nope, was just weird, I like weird films but this was too much. No scares, no suspense, no story line.
