I’ve just finished watching my iTunes purchase of this for the first time as I missed it at the theatre. It’s absolutely amazing. Awesome story line with fantastic continuation to the original. I loved the intro sequence and all the other nods to the original… Cinematography is outstanding and looks stunning in 4K on my OLED and the sound!!! You’ve guessed it! Amazing… I may just watch it again right now, or at least the opening sequence! Awesome!!!

Finally a film that isn’t trying to teach me something or be politically correct. Just a film to enjoy and lose yourself in for a few hours. Cruise on top form as always.

Lots of action and nods to the original

More of the same, but just gotta love this film. Amazing flying action, can’t see CGI. Yeh, it’s cheesy, but just watch it for what it is.

It’s Amazing

It’s an enjoyable movie for the most part. I’ve given it 4 stars but it’s really a 3 or 3.5 star movie. +1 star for the nostalgia factor. Tom Cruise is good as always, Jennifer Connelly is a bit of a bore but ok. It’s not a character driven movie, it’s meant to wow with the flight scenes & it does. What really prevents this movie from being great are the woeful younger pilot characters. None of them can authentically portray the types of characters they’re supposed to be. All completely unbelievable as ‘hot, talented pilots’. All the younger roles were miscast, except for Jennifer Conneally’s daughter. And the facial hair! Miles Teller’s moustache gave me nightmares! So hideous! The movie is worth a watch but could have been a lot better with better script writing and a better younger cast. Hey-ho, you can’t have everything I suppose, even with a $170 million budget.

Such a great film. Throughly enjoyed it and will definitely watch again.

Entertaining and worth watching but I don’t think it lives up to all the rave publicity it’s received. The last part lost it for me somewhat; the action became unrealistic and far-fetched, more like a Bond movie.
