Description

Lock, Stock and Snatch superstar Vinnie Jones teams up with premiere acting veteran Keith Allen (Kingsman, Shallow Grave) for British true crime thriller RISE OF THE FOOTSOLDIER: ORIGINS. A brutal account of how real-life, hard-as-nails Falklands War veteran Tony Tucker (Terry Stone) came to be involved in one of the most notorious gangland murders in British history. RISE OF THE FOOTSOLDIER: ORIGINS is a must-see for anyone after an authentic crime biopic that hits like a knuckle-duster polished to a high shine. This is Blow, Essex style, and it will knock your socks off. Set against a superbly realised backdrop of the late 80s rave scene, with a pulsing soundtrack featuring the likes of New Order and Ultravox. A future Brit gangster classic that gives the likes of Layer Cake, The Gentlemen and Legend a run for their money.

Sorry but this film is poor. I’ve enjoyed all the ROTFS films, especially the last 2 focusing on Pat Tate and tony tucker but this latest one is by far the worse. It looks and feels very low budget, Craig fairbrass is relegated to an extended cameo and worst of all trying to pass this off as an origins story when all the main guys look exactly what they are, blokes knocking 60 years old trying to play guys in their 30’s. If there’s any plans to ever make another just do something along the lines of part 3 & 4. Just make up the story, it doesn’t have to be based on fact, get Craig onboard as the main focus and bring back the old Tony tucker character who was like a British gangster version of the joker, laughing his head off whilst swearing, kicking in heads and sniffing gear. The actors are all a lot better than this film.

Having been lucky enough to be an extra in this film , filming on cold nights up in Southend last October and working along side a great cast, I can say I think this is the best one. Lots of action and brought back memories of the Essex clubbing days.

Love the characters. Part 1 is a hard hitting classic. 2 was an ok follow up. 3,4,5, are just great backstory (obs using creative licence, it is a film after all) and the three character movie really make themselves stand out. Absolutely loved the last three. Well done to the whole team of Producers, actors and supporting crew.
