Description

Jane Austen’s beloved comedy about finding your equal and earning your happy ending is reimagined in this delicious new film adaptation of Emma. Handsome, clever and rich, Emma Woodhouse (Thoroughbreds’ Anya Taylor-Joy) is a restless “queen bee” without rivals in her sleepy little English town. In this glittering satire of social class, Emma must navigate her way through the challenges of growing up, misguided matches and romantic missteps to realize the love that has been there all along.

regardless of the price, this film is extremely poor. the title character Emma is thoroughly unlikeable and lacks any of the redeeming features she had in earlier portrayals. the costumes are stunning but overly lavish given that some of the characters are supposed to be poor. the casting is also a bit odd: Bill Nye, for instance, is a good actor but just not a good fit for this role. Miranda Hart's character is endearing but you get the feeling she's just being herself. overall a bit of a mishmash, unengaging, poorly performed and quite hard to follow. very disappointing as I had high expectations for this - obviously big-budget - modern adaptation. i think they relied too much on the nice scenery and pretty period outfits to carry this one.

Yeah i mean i dunno the real life story of this emma lady but she seems nice. Almost got cast in this but just fell short ironiclly because of my lack luster height, is what the producers told me but yeah Anas good, the blonde guy that looks like my cousin is decent so definetly worth the watch atleast twice. Didnt cry at the end because I AINT SOFT hahaha.

This is a beautifully realised interpretation of Austen’s story. The production values are second to none and the acting is perfectly balanced between the ludicrous and the heartfelt. Many of the other reviews have focused on the price of rental, this is absurd as you would expect them to realise that the film was still in cinemas when lockdown hit. The studio needs to recoup its losses. Ignore the naysayers and take the plunge. The rental price has come down a touch but you could always just wait for it to be at base rate.

A fantastic adaptation of this Classic novel. Sumptuous scenery, music, sets, and costumes. I paid £9,99 for the rental, and think that was quite enough for a new film.

Outstanding acting and superb costumes. The best and most believable telling of this comedy of manners. The music is great and surround sound (if you have it) is brilliant. A great movie experience! The cost is less than we’d have paid to go to the cinema,

Way too expensive. I understand Cinema’s are shut due to these strange times yet people are also experiencing hardship and financial difficulties at these times too.
