Description

Dani and Christian are a young American couple with a relationship on the brink of falling apart. But after a family tragedy keeps them together, a grieving Dani invites herself to join Christian and his friends on a trip to a once-in-a-lifetime midsummer festival in a remote Swedish village. What begins as a carefree summer holiday in a land of eternal sunlight takes a sinister turn when the insular villagers invite their guests to partake in festivities that render the pastoral paradise increasingly unnerving and viscerally disturbing. From the visionary mind of Ari Aster comes a dread-soaked cinematic fairytale where a world of darkness unfolds in broad daylight. From writer/director Ari Aster and starring Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, William Jackson Harper, and Will Poulter.

  • Ok, but not really

The whole look of the movie, it’s lovely. The costumes, the whole farm village etc is impressive. But the movie is deeply depressing and sad. With a very sad ending.

There is an undertow to this film which is built cleverly and serves the purpose of making anxiety shot at the fore.
  • No Closed Captions?

Paid £9.99 for this and usually if its a comfort film or one that I’ve seen before then a lack of captions isn’t too much of a bother but paying that much for a single film and not having the option for captions is ridiculous!! The film itself is good but for £10 i don’t think its worth it at all when the iTunes store can’t even be bothered to add captions! It was so difficult to watch without them and for such a big company its not okay!

USA has the 4K version, so why no us in the UK? Weve purchased an APPLE 4KTV so give us the 4K movies to go with it!
  • More than just a horror movie

Went into this film with expectations of it being a strong horror film after having my senses brutalised by Hereditary . I was so so surprised . In a GOOD way . This film is for serious horror fans . I honestly think it should become a cult classic . The film demands your attention early on and it is certainly not a comfortable watch . If you want a conventional jumpscare horror I would not recommend this . You may laugh or you may cry . I certainly found this film touched me in a way no horror ever has . It was not so much fear I felt as sorrow . This film really is very made . The Cinematography is stunning and it has a slow build. I will say this film is not all that scary but it is very sad and unsettling . I preferred this too a scare fest in all honestly . Though there are some ok scares thrown in . If you are a horror buff you will love it but if you are after cheap scares this probably isn't for you . Matt

More like a comedy than a horror, we were in stitches in the cinema, worth the watch

A beautiful, disturbing movie. The best film of last year. I love a film that can create an atmosphere and sustain it throughout its entirety. The original Wicker Man has always been a favourite of mine. (Please review the film and not Itunes policies)
