Description

From director Todd Douglas Miller (Dinosaur 13) comes a cinematic event 50 years in the making. Crafted from a newly discovered trove of 65mm footage, and more than 11,000 hours of uncatalogued audio recordings, Apollo 11 takes us straight to the heart of NASA's most celebrated mission—the one that first put men on the moon, and forever made Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin into household names. Immersed in the perspectives of the astronauts, the team in Mission Control, and the millions of spectators on the ground, we vividly experience those momentous days and hours in 1969 when humankind took a giant leap into the future.

Thank you ‘NEON’ for reducing this film Documentary to £4.99 for the day on Sunday 29th December 2019 because it was the Christmas Holidays. This is fantastic film Documentary that looks stunning in 4K and shows one of mankind’s most amazing achievements. It brings back fond memories of watching the moon landing live on tv many, many moons ago. It’s great that this film is in glorious 4K HDR with Dolby 5.1 and has iTunes Extras and CC subtitles and SDH subtitles.

Absolutely fantastic, a very well put together documentary that draws you in on the suspense as if you were there at the time. Some of the shots are just draw dropping for something that was filmed over 50 years ago.

Worth it just for the rare footage especially the communication between the space shuttle and mission control. This film the story of Apollo 11 really well. Some of the onscreen text is a bit small and so quite difficult to read. Kids may not sit through it all but the latter stages will be exciting, my daughter was fascinated by the landing footage.

This is one of the best documentaries I have seen. It doesn’t take the usual documentary format of interviews and voiceovers, instead it uses archive footage which is edited into a timeline of events from the build up to the launch right through to moon landing itself and the return to Earth. This is in my opinion a far more effective way of drawing the viewer in. The editing is first rate. Considering that the archive footage is 50 years old, it looks absolutely phenomenal. The 4K transfer is full of detail, with everything from the bright whites of the Saturn V to the deep black of space looking pun sharp and full of minute detail. Colours are vivid and lifelike. The sound is also fantastic with very deep bass and a detailed soundtrack. Definitely worth a purchase.
  • Why only HD?

Given the awesomeness of the images in this spectacular movie I do not see why Apple is only releasing it in HD, not in 4K Ultra HD? The visual spectacle is the defining difference with this film.
