Description

Heralded as the best indie sci-fi since 'Moon', 'Prospect' is smart, entertaining and a treat for the eyes. Rivalling Ridley Scott and Christopher Nolan's work, it will leave you breathless with its other-worldly splendour anchored by an emotional story. A teenage girl and her father travel to a remote alien moon, aiming to strike it rich. They've secured a contract to harvest elusive gems hidden in the depths of the moon's toxic forest. But there are others roving the wilderness and the job quickly devolves into a fight to survive. Forced to contend not only with the forest's other ruthless inhabitants, but with her own father's judgement, the girl must carve her own path to escape. Prospect stars Pedro Pascal ('Game of Thrones' and lead in the upcoming Star Wars TV series 'The Mandalorian'), Sophie Thatcher and Jay Duplass.

Any chance of adding English subtitles it’s really hard to make out what some of the characters are saying , constant mumbling!
  • Lots of Atmosphere

Moody and atmospheric, this film does not lead you by the hand, nor does take you on a special effects laden action bonanza. Instead you get an edgy journey into what life might be like on the frontier of human exploration into space and how people may be affected by it and try how they may try to survive it.
  • Not bad.

Decent concept, well acted for what was there, but better writing and scripting would have helped.
  • Intriguing, unsettling, interesting.

It’s probably fair to say that most viewers imagine great vistas of CGI when settling down to watch a Sci-Fi movie; explosions, space-battles, alien creatures, etc. This is not going to deliver on those expectations. What you’ll get here is more akin to a Frontier tale of America’s Old West - humans at the edges of exploration, competing for resources in strange and often unforgiving environments. The narrative is taught, and the performances are excellent, and all in all I enjoyed it as a film trying something different - not that it succeeds on all fronts, but I’d rather watch a small movie with aspirations that another big budget popcorn muncher ticking off the tired tropes. Thoroughly recommended for those who enjoy the cerebral over the crash, bang, wallop.

If you are tired of Hollywood big pile of rubbish, this film may interest you. Give it a try. When I rented the movie was one £0.99, a bargain.

The actors were not to blame in this film. The storyline and lack of any type of action or plot was unforgivable...avoid! Please avoid! It is available for free on All 4 as I speak...

I’m not much of a film critic but would like to counter act the negative reviews somewhat with a positive. This film reminded me of cloud atlas during the far future scenes with an interesting dialect you can just grasp enough to keep you going. Others say pointless dull boring. The film kept me intrigued through out. Maybe if you haven’t much of a attention span then this film is not for you. It’s certainly one of those cult style sci-fi’s really hard to come by these days. Great film.

The critics were spot on. Ignore the negative reviews. This is quality sci-fi ! Kept my attention throughout with great acting, good story, and soundtrack to match. Loved it!
