  • MRS TRAVERS WOULD NOT APPROVE!

Without a doubt the most unnecessary and BIGGEST waste of money Disney has ever spent on a motion picture. There was NO NEED AT ALL for a sequel. NO ONE. AT ALL asked for it. (I admit I watched in the cinema and the moment Mary came on screen I left with about 25 others. Leaving 3-5 people in there to continue watching)
  • Mary Poppins Returns does not disappoint in any way!

Fantastic second Mary Poppins film! I genuinely thought this was going to be rubbish and thought ‘Emily Blunt’ was completely the wrong choice to play Mary Poppins. Well, I was completely wrong! ‘Emily Blunt’ is brilliant and perfectly cast in this follow on to the original Mary Poppins. This is obviously a more modern Mary Poppins, but it still has the beauty, the magic, and has new wonderful songs to go with it. The cinematography, the script, the acting, the cast are all superb, and it is great seeing previous cast members throughout the film. It is a wonderful family film, that everyone regardless of age, can, and will enjoy together. I am so pleased I was wrong with my original doubts about this film. Mary Poppins Returns is destined to become a classic, just like the original Mary Poppins, and I am very pleased that I have seen it. ’Walt Disney Pictures’ have now given this film the 4K Dolby Vision upgrade that looks fantastic. The Dolby Atmos soundtrack sounds awesome on my 7.1.4 theatre system, and is the icing on the cake. Thank you ’Walt Disney’ for upgrading this, and many of your other films that I have bought. 👍 Well chuffed!

I really enjoyed and really disliked this film in equal measure. I loved the familiarity of the new songs but didn't quite think many were very memorable. The put on accent of Emily Blunt was simply terrible, and I genuinely think she was miscast. For me there was just something missing with this new film. I did however, feel a warm glow when the finishing number was played. All in all a pleasant sequel. Necessary? No.
  • Doesn't compare to original, so to treat in own right

My wife and I rented this and quite enjoyed it. There are lovely sets, some great choreography and some lovely musical numbers (the music, rather than the singing though). The animated sections are lovely and the carton-style one is beautifully created and feels true to the original. There are also some nice cameos. Sadly, the songs just are not that catchy or even good. The last song is the best (in my opinion). So, I feel that this movie makes for a nice couple of hours of viewing, as a rental, but unless you have kids that love it, it probably isn't a keeper.
  • What a lovely movie

It was stupid but just nice. I love all the songs and the actors did a good job, especially Emily blunt and Meryl Streep
