Description

It was billed Mission Impossible, beating double World Champions New Zealand in a test series in their own back yard, a feat only done once before in the Lions' 129 year history. Few gave them a chance against the mighty All Blacks, not beaten at home since 2009 - a run of 47 matches and 2849 days. Yet the strongest steel is forged in the hottest fire and the 2017 Lions showed their mettle to draw the series and do the iconic jersey proud. Lions Uncovered tells the story of a team of rivals, the best of the best from England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales who came together with a single purpose under head coach Warren Gatland. Charting the tour in graphic detail, this is the inside account of how the Lions took on the most successful sports team in history 10,000 miles from home, against all odds. Witness the real life, behind the scenes journey to the far side of the world where the Lions were roared on by more than 20,000 travelling passionate fans. From the squad selection meeting to the final whistle of the dramatic third test, relive the stunning tour from inside the Lions den. Watch the Lions receive a formal challenge from 500 Maori warriors at the famed Waitangi Treaty Grounds, the birthplace of New Zealand, and hear them respond with songs from their homelands. With unrestricted access to every meeting and training session, the team bus and the coaches' box, see and hear the players as you have never before. Featuring thrilling match footage from every one of the ten games this is one of the most extraordinary sporting events of all time.

This is a great documentary. This is a big upgrade to other Lions documentaries and it captures the emotion of the players with great detail and clever filming. As a rugby fan and a documentary fan, I absolutely loved it!

I thought this film was great, it gave such a unique experience that is normally shut off to the fans but throughout the film I felt like I was part of the team. It's shot beautifly and the emotions run high during the test matches. I definitely recommend for any staple rugby fan or not even a fan of rugby can enjoy.

Fantastic film which is so much more than a sporting documentary - gives a real insight into the inner sanctum of the tour and all the pressures that go with it. Beautiful cinematography that captures what an amazing country NZ is. Would definitely recommend and will watch again!

Incredibly sterile when compared to previous Lions DVDs. Feels like an extended marketing ad for the Lions, with no spontaneous banter or remotely controversial opinions. Such a shame.
  • Disappointing

I have never written a review before but feel compelled to do so here. Maybe I am biased towards the Australian Lions DVD as I watched the behind the scenes footage about 30 times and still laughed - very little player cam or funny behind the scenes stuff here, a great shame as it’s very clear the whole squad had a fantastic time and gelled amazingly well despite some rubbish reports in the recent press.
