Description

The incredible true story of how Ray Kroc (Academy Award nominee Michael Keaton, Spotlight, Birdman), a salesman from Illinois, met Mac (John Carroll Lynch, Jackie) and Dick McDonald (Nick Offerman, 22 Jump Street), who were running a burger operation in 1950s Southern California. So impressed by the brothers' speedy system Kroc risked his marriage, bankruptcy and his reputation to create a billion-dollar empire that revolutionised the world. From director John Lee Hancock (Saving Mr. Banks, The Blind Side) and writer Robert D. Siegel (The Wrestler) comes a stunning and shocking portrayal of the man whose hunger for the American Dream ate away everything he knew.

To understand the McDonalds empire you have to watch this film. Michael Keaton is brilliant, its a great film that leaves you with a very unpalatable truth about the man behind the company we all buy burgers from.

There is, of course, dramatic license in any movie. However, this film does offer insight into how a good company can become a world-beater (it takes hard work, bordering on obsession and a little luck along the way). Well considered casting and great acting make this movie worth a look.

Movie is okay. A bit boring and predictable. I liked the story of the middle-aged salesperson who after many professional flops manages to found an empire. I am shocked that there is no mention of the quality of the food served at Mc Donald's and the impact of fast food on the health of US population and elsewhere.

A good look into the beginnings of one of the biggest companies in the world. Seen at the cinema twice. Worth the download on iTunes, believe me. 👍🏼
